Is Islam a religion or cult?
The main difference between a religion and a cult is the level of control over members. Religions are tolerant, its members can question, come and go, as they please. Cults are about control of its members by a usually charismatic leader, such as The Manson Family, or Jim “drink the cool aid” Jones of the People’s Temple, who died near Jonestown British Guyana, or Branch Davidian David Koresh, who burned at the Mount Carmel Center east of Waco Texas, or the followers of Islam, which seems to be mostly about Muhammad, “the Messenger of God”.

By all accounts, Muhammad was charismatic, well liked, and cared about others.
